Antique Regency Rosewood Music stand c.1820 - £14,500
With a hinged, adjustable sloping reading top this beautiful piece is inlaid with fine brass decoration. There is also a support for holding the music in place. The finely chosen wood is enhanced on all sides with a brass inlay. Unusually, at the front of the podium, there is a door with a central key and lock to reveal the interior cabinet, which has one removable shelf.
Between the top and the cabinet door is one long drawer, which extends and has a collapsible frontage, to give one a fully flat surface At the bottom, there is another similar drawer which extends and has a similar collapsible front, and this drawer is supported upon hidden feet.
The whole piece is a charming example of Regency furniture.
This piece is almost certainly from the House of Morgan and Sanders pre-eminent in the manufacture of metamorphic furniture. well know for the furnishing of Admiral Nelson and Lady Hamilton's House.
